Our Story
Sunflower seeds have always had one annoying problem: what do you do with the shells?
At the game, on the road, outdoors, or just hanging out, seed lovers have spent years reaching for an extra cup, an empty bottle, a second bag—or whatever happens to be nearby.
Spit N’ Stash started with a simple thought: the package should solve the problem.
That idea became a dual-compartment pouch designed to keep fresh sunflower seeds on one side and give empty shells their own separate place on the other.
Seeds Here. Shells There. Snack Fresh. Stay Neat.
Meet the Founder
Malique Washington — Founder & Inventor
Spit N’ Stash was founded by Malique Washington, a sunflower seed eater who knew the shell problem firsthand. Instead of treating the mess as something seed lovers simply had to deal with, he began working on a package built around the way people actually eat sunflower seeds.
The concept sounds simple: put the seeds and discarded shells in the same package without mixing them together. Turning that idea into a real product, however, meant developing a pouch with separate compartments, separate access points, resealability, and a design practical enough for everyday use.
What started as an idea has since moved through design, patent filing, manufacturer conversations, engineering decisions, and physical prototyping. Spit N’ Stash is currently patent-pending and being refined for its first production run.
Why Spit N’ Stash Exists
We believe a great product doesn’t need to make snacking complicated. It should remove friction from something people already enjoy.
Spit N’ Stash is being built around three things: great-tasting sunflower seeds, a genuinely useful package, and a cleaner, more convenient way to snack.
The goal isn’t to change how people eat sunflower seeds. It’s to make the experience better.
How It Works
Snack. Grab fresh seeds from the seed compartment.
Spit. Place the empty shells into the separate shell compartment.
Seal. Close the pouch and keep the shells contained until you’re ready to throw them away.
One pouch. Two compartments. No extra shell cup required.
Built From the Ground Up
Spit N’ Stash isn’t a finished product being given a new label. The packaging itself is the idea.
That means testing the details that actually matter in real use: how easily each compartment opens, how well the pouch reseals, how much room the shell side needs, how the package feels in your hand, and whether the entire experience is simple enough to become second nature.
We’re taking the time to get those details right before the First Drop reaches customers.
What’s Next
Spit N’ Stash is currently in the prototype and prelaunch stage. The First Drop is being prepared while the final pouch design, seed lineup, and production details are completed.
Early supporters can join the First Drop list for product updates and first access when ordering opens.
This is just the beginning.
